USC falls to the Citadel in extra innings

COLUMBIA, S.C. -- The Citadel outlasted South Carolina beating the Gamecocks 5-3 in 11 innings Tuesday night at Carolina Stadium.

South Carolina loaded the bases in both the 10th and 11th innings but failed to bring any runners across home plate.  The Citadel is now 21-14 on the year while the loss drops South Carolina to 24-13 for the season.

The Gamecocks are back in action Friday night when they host game one of  a three-game SEC series with the Auburn Tigers.
