A midlands six-year-old needs your help. WACH FOX News first introduced you to Bayler Teal last September when doctors diagnosed him with neuro-blastoma, a rare form of cancer that only effects children.
At first glance, brothers Bayler and Bridges are your typical, energetic little boys. But if six-year-old Bayler takes his hat off, you realize he has cancer. He doesn't let that get him down though.
His dad Rob Teal says, "We forget he's sick sometimes. He's always smiling and running around."
Teal and Risha knew something was wrong with their son when Bayler wasn't his active self. A few doctors visits later, Bayler was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer already in stage four.
"It's the worst possible thing you could ever imagine to hear," says Rob,
Doctors told the Teals there was a grapefruit size tumor in Baylers stomach, pushing on his kidney and liver. The six-year-old immediately started chemotherapy, had surgery in January then went through a stem cell transplant. Now he's about to start radiation.
The Teals say it's a miracle Bayler is healing so well. Even though he has a long road to recovery, the family has faith Bayler will fight through.
"We put it in God's hands. Now people will come up to us and say their child won't go to bed without praying for Bayler," says Rob.
There are many ways you can help, starting with a B-B-Q benefit and poker run. The fundraiser is next saturday April 18 at Jack's Suppurate on highway 15 south in Sumter. It starts at noon and runs until 9:00.
