Two suspects are in custody after leading Richland County Deputies on a brief chase and search Friday afternoon.

According to Sergeant Kim Myers, deputies were patrolling near the intersections Westmore Dr. and Farrow Rd. at around 3:30 PM Friday when they heard gunfire.

Witnesses identified a brown SUV as the source for the gunshots, but when officers attempted to pull it over, the driver sped away. A brief chase ensued but ended when both the driver and passenger attempted to flee on foot near Parklane Rd.

The driver, who has not been identified, was immediately arrested. The passenger, who also has not been identified, managed to hide in a nearby condo but was located by K-9 units and surrendered peacefully.
