The Department will co-sponsor a fitness challenge on Saturday, March 21, 2009 at Carolina Crossfit located at 1804 Blanding Street in Columbia (located behind the fire station. The challenge will be held from 12:00 PM until 3:00 PM. Sheriff Lott stated that The American Heart Association’s mission is “Building healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke”. For adults, the “Burpee Challenge” will be as many burpees as you can do in 10 minutes and for children who would like to participate, it will be the “Kids Burpee Challenge (as many burpees as they can do in 5 minutes). Sheriff Leon Lott adds you can help raise donations by paying $25 per workout or getting your friends and family to sponsor you per point or per burpee.
All families can take part in this exciting event. Sheriff Lott encourages everyone to “work out” with Richland County Sheriff’s Department on Saturday, March 21, 2009. Sheriff Leon Lott, himself, has sponsored a Deputy for the “Fight Gone Bad Challenge”-challenging anyone in the community to try their muscles and heart against him.
