(AP) -- PROSPERITY, S.C. (AP) -- Authorities say a train-truck crash at a crossing in Newberry County has resulted in charges filed against the driver of the truck.

A release from the sheriff's department reports that the train and logging truck crashed Thursday on Main Street in the town of Prosperity, leaving logs scattered along the track and prompting officials to reroute traffic.

S.C. Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Scot Edgeworth said the driver of the truck, 33-year-old Ephesian Tanks of North Augusta, was injured and taken to a hospital. Tanks has been charged with disregarding a railroad signal.

Department of Health and Environmental Control spokesman Thom Berry says the gas tanks on the truck broke open and diesel fuel leaked. He says the leak has been contained and crews are working to clean the spill.
