CHARLESTON, SC (AP) -- The wife of a man who died after he was shocked by a Taser gun in South Carolina has dropped her suit against the weapon's maker.
The attorney for the woman told The Post and Courier of Charleston that she will now join the victim's mother, who has sued North Charleston police, but not the Scottsdale, Ariz., company that makes the Taser.
Authorities say 38-year-old Kip Black was high on cocaine when he was shocked up to 10 times with a Taser in October 2006.
Authorities say officers were called after Black was spinning around a utility pole asking for help and used chemical spray and Tasers after Black ran into traffic.
Taser officials say they are pleased with the decision and will continue to aggressively fight any lawsuits against the company.
