Newberry County Sheriff Lee Foster talks about the current forecast.

Question: "Did the wintry weather cause any accidents in the area?"

SHERIFF FOSTER: "We had a traffic accident earlier this afternoon, a fairly serious accident.  It was not as much attributed to the snow as it was to the wet conditions.  It didn't start snowing, until we were working to get the victim out of the car."

Question: "What plan of action is in place, if the weather gets worse?"

SHERIFF FOSTER: What we are doing now is we have additional personnel in our communication section, just to take a heavier volume of calls.  All of our officers are driving 4-wheelers so they can respond.  And we have plans to check on the elderly and the shut-in if it increasingly gets worse."

Question: "Any advice to residents on how to stay safe?"

SHERFIF FOSTER: "Stay at home and enjoy this unusual event at your home.  Unless you have to get out for an emergency or a necessity, I just recommend everyone staying in."
