CHARLESTON, SC (AP) -- Television and film actor Isaiah Washington is helping dedicate five plantation cabins at Magnolia Plantation and Gardens near Charleston.
The Saturday dedication marks the completion of renovation of the cabins which interpret the experience of black workers from the time of slavery through the middle of the 20th century.
The five cabins were originally built about 1850 as slave cabins. They later served as freedmen's homes and a gardeners cabin. One was used as a residence through 1969.
The cabins have been renovated to show what they would have looked like at five different times during the period.
Washington is best known for his role on "Grey's Anatomy."
