(AP) -- A federal analysis shows South Carolina's 85 school districts may receive some $300 million in stimulus money for schools with large numbers of poor children and students with disabilities.
The analysis by the nonpartisan Congressional Research Service was released Monday by House Majority Whip James Clyburn, D-S.C.
The analysis estimates districts will receive amounts ranging from $384,000 for rural Greenwood 52 to $32 million for massive Greenville County.
The estimates are for only two pieces of the stimulus package and the actual total will be different. The U.S. Education Department is expected to release more guidance soon.
State Education Department officials also note the analysis did not include a statewide charter school district and some special schools.
