A man accused of accidentally shooting and killing his 11-year-old son was in an Orangeburg courtroom.  He's facing some serious charges and now that man's family says they're facing the ultimate injustice.

"He's suffered enough," said brother-in-law Thomas Hair.  "He's shed so many tears, he can't shed no more."

Hair says Carmichael has already been through enough.  He's facing charges of Involuntary Manslaughter in the death of his 11-year-old son, Dei'Sjuan.  The man's family says putting the boys father in jail, is not the answer.

"All we can try and do is turn it around and make it love," said Hair.

Carmichael's wife and family were at the Orangeburg courtroom Wednesday, to support the 30-year-old.  The family says Carmichael's arrest, hasn't given them the chance to grieve for 11-year-old Dei'Sjuan.

"The mother didn't want to do nothing without him.  This is a real close-knit family," said family friend Kelvin Gadson.  "We are just waiting to get him home, so we can go on and finish the services."

Carmichael will be heading home.  A judge releasing him on a personal recognizance bond.  His family says that will allow them to recover from this tragedy.

"Bad things brings everybody together," said Gadson.  "And we are just looking at the unity part right now."

Carmichael's next court appearance is set for February.  If convicted, he faces up to five years in prison.
