BEAUFORT, S.C. (AP) -- A Beaufort County man has been sentenced to 35 years in prison for killing a woman on a motorcycle while driving drunk, while his two children were in his sport utility vehicle.

The Island Packet of Hilton Head reported Thursday that a jury found 40-year-old Rodney Galimore guilty of felony driving under the influence, reckless homicide, child endangerment and driving with a suspended license.

The August 2007 crash killed 42-year-old Merry Deon of Ridgeland, who was driving to Savannah, Ga., after leaving work. State troopers testified Wednesday that Galimore drove his GMC Blazer into the wrong lane, facing oncoming traffic.

Galimore's attorney said his client was distracted while making a legal U-turn. Galimore told the judge he was sorry.
