CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- Charleston police have finished their investigation of the furniture store fire that killed nine firefighters last year.

Police Chief Greg Mullen said Wednesday the information has been sent to prosecutors to determine if there will be criminal charges.

Prosecutor Scarlett Wilson told The Post and Courier of Charleston she hopes to have recommendations within six weeks.

Wilson says she doesn't expect to find that the fire was the result of an intentional act. She says her review will probably focus on negligence and whether anyone's actions constitute a criminal offense.

Police, the State Law Enforcement Division and the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives assisted with the investigation. Mullen says he's confident the investigation has been thorough.
