A Fort Jackson soldier has a new star on his uniform.
Colonel Richard Mustion was promoted Friday afternoon to Brigadier General… one of the Army's highest ranks.
After months of waiting, Col. Richard Mustion is promoted.
President Bush nominated 49-year-old Mustion earlier this year.
“I’m very excited and humbled by promotion,” says Col. Mustion.
The position which carries a lot of responsibilities, something that the 27-year Army vet doesn't have a problem with.
“My goal now is to execute mission on the battlefield,” says Col. Mustion.
Mustion will now oversee many schools that train enlisted soldiers and Army officers.
The promotion also means he'll be with non-commissioned officers, the training support battalion and the Army band.
Col. Mustion is from Missouri and has served overseas.
A Fort Jackson spokesman says he will remain in his current post.
