CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- A North Charleston plant that makes display cabinets and fixtures for stores will close early next year, eliminating 110 jobs.

The Post and Courier of Charleston reported Wednesday that Leggett & Platt Inc. notified employees it will start closing the plant in mid-January. The company said all operations should stop by the end of February.

A statement from the company Tuesday said the closing was the result of a consolidation of operations. It said it is closing four plants in its store-fixtures division as part of a $1.2 billion cost reduction plan announced last year. The company did not say then which plants would close.

Leggett & Platt said it would work with North Charleston employees to help them find new jobs.
