COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- Republican Bob Inglis has been re-elected to the U.S. House from South Carolina's 4th District.
The 49-year-old attorney beat two challengers to win his sixth congressional term. Inglis defeated 61-year-old retired business executive Democrat Paul Corden in Corden's first bid for public office and Green Party candidate Faye Walters. The 61-year-old salon owner was on her seventh run for the office since 1996.
Inglis' district in northern South Carolina is made up mostly of Greenville and Spartanburg counties. He serves on the Foreign Affairs and Science and Technology committees.
Inglis served in the U.S. House from 1993-1999, but gave up his seat because of a term-limit pledge. He was re-elected in 2004 and has served since.
