COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- Spirited challenges to two South Carolina congressmen mark what is expected to otherwise be a safe Election Day for lawmakers aiming to return to Washington.
Incumbent Republican Rep. Henry Brown faced a well-funded challenge for his coastal seat from Linda Ketner, a Democratic management consultant and activist.
Republican Rep. Joe Wilson faced Democratic challenger Rob Miller, a former Marine captain running in the 2nd District.
Both districts have been Republican for more than 30 years.
Elsewhere, Democrats John Spratt and James Clyburn look to hold their posts and leadership positions if their party retains its control of Congress. Incumbent GOP Reps. Bob Inglis and Gresham Barrett aimed to keep their seats in the Republican Upstate.
