COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- Clemson interim coach Dabo Swinney knows who he'd select to lead the United States -- and it's not Barack Obama or John McCain.

Swinney said Tuesday he's going to write in his old coach at Alabama, Gene Stallings. Swinney said if anyone could solve the country's problems, it would be Alabama's former national championship winning coach.

Swinney laughed and said he planned to cast his vote later Tuesday, most likely for one of the two major candidates.

South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier also hadn't voted by early afternoon Tuesday. His plan was to hit his polling place after the Gamecocks practice about 6:30 p.m. When told he might have to wait up to two hours to cast a ballot, Spurrier said he wasn't happy about it but would stand in line.
