FLORENCE, S.C. (AP) -- An armed man who blocked a hospital emergency room exit for about 16 hours in Conway could soon learn whether he'll be given bond.
The Sun News of Myrtle Beach reports that 42-year-old Robert McGowan was expected in court Monday for a bond and probable cause hearing. McGowan is charged with having a weapon as a felon.
Authorities say McGowan threatened to kill himself while barricaded in his car Oct. 21, but it's unknown why he drove to Conway Medical Center armed with a .22-caliber rifle. He surrendered to police after the overnight standoff. No one was injured.
McGowan was on two years' probation after serving 10 years in prison for shooting a Horry County police officer in the hand in 1996.
