CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- A bag of cigarette butts is worth five points.

But a bag of used batteries is better, as is a bag of dog poop. Both are worth 10 points in Charleston's annual dash for trash.

Several hundred college students swarm through the streets on Saturday in the annual litter scavenger hunt. The idea is to help clean up the city. Students will be on teams and those who get the most points win prizes.

Organizers said that besides making cleaning up fun, the event makes residents more aware of the city's litter laws.
