SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) -- The Coast Guard says it has rescued four fishermen from a life raft about 65 miles southeast of Savannah.
Coast Guard spokesman Michael Hulme says the men were aboard the 45-foot fishing vessel Old Smokey, based out of Little River, S.C., when they radioed for help as the vessel began to take on water.
Hulme said the 700-foot merchant vessel Tamesis relayed the call and stayed nearby to relay information to the Coast Guard until help arrived. He said the men arrived at Air Station Savannah Friday night in good condition.
He identified the crew members as 45-year-old James Mincey of Little River, S.C.; 32-year-old Dean R. Ronald Jr. of Towns, Ga.; 33-year-old Patrick H. Craig, 33, of Jacksonville, Fla., and 50-year-old James R. Zorn of Myrtle Beach, S.C.
