COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- More than 20,000 customers were without power across central South Carolina and a flash flood warning was issued in the Lowcountry because of high winds and a band of showers that pushed across the state.
The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning for Dorchester, Berkeley and Charleston counties Friday. The weather service says more than six inches of rain have fallen in some areas and as much as three feet of water was reported on some roads. No injuries were reported.
South Carolina Electric & Gas Co. reported more than 20,000 customers had lost power and Duke Energy Co. reported about 3,000 outages.
The National Weather Service issued a high wind warning for much of the state, forecasting winds of sustained winds of at least 40 mph.
