NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- A new mobile MRI will serve both veterans and active duty military in the South Carolina Lowcountry.

The new unit to be dedicated Friday in North Charleston was bought through the Joint Incentive Fund, a federal program through which two or more government agencies buy equipment together for joint use.

The Defense Department and the Veterans Administration are also working on another joint project -- a new clinic at the Naval Weapons Station in Goose Creek, S.C.

The 188,000-square foot clinic is scheduled to open next summer.
