Two arrested in hit-and-run accident

The Highway Patrol confirms that two arrests have been made in a hit-and-run accident that left one dead and another injured.

According to Highway Patrol officials, community tips led investigators to Hartsville where they located a 2007 PT Cruiser with damage consistent with the hit-and-run.

Thirty-eight-year-old Michael Gainey and 36-year-old Kimberly H. Miller, both from Hartsville, were arrested in connection with the accident.

Gainey is being charged with driving under suspension, leaving the scene of an accident involving injury and leaving the scene of an accident involving death. Miller is being charged with obstruction of justice.

Both are being held at the Lexington County Detention Center.
