WEST COLUMBIA, S.C. (WACH)--Several families felt lucky to have their heroes back home on Saturday.

The South Carolina National Guard, along with families, welcomed back the guard's Agribusiness Development Team 48. The unit has spent the last year in Afghanistan; training more than 300 farmers on irrigation and food safety.

Sgt. Jason Alleshouse said although they are proud to serve, there is nothing like being back home with family and friends.

"This time it was harder," Alleshouse said. "This was my third deployment and this time with my children being old enough to know what is going on, and being able to hear their feelings over the phone, that was tough."

Sgt. Alleshouse said he plans on relaxing at his home in the upstate and catch up on lost time with his three children.
