COLUMBIA (WACH) -- Andy Tevepaugh and Brittany Gregory are young, in love, engaged and a house divided.

Andy is a Clemson fan and Brittany roots for Carolina, but this couple has bigger things to worry about than a sports rivalry.

"Here we are in our twenties getting ready to get married, and we're now looking at an organ transplant and dialysis. These things we never thought we would have to face," said Gregory.

Tevepaugh was in a golf cart accident. After the accident, he went to the hospital for a check-up, where he received some tough news.

Tevepaugh and his fiance found out his kidneys were failing and he needed to go on dialysis.

This was shocking information to the 27-year-old who thought he was healthy. He had no family history of hypertension or diabetes and felt fine.

"I was in complete shock and utter disbalief, you know im 27, and this really can't be happening to me," said Tevepaugh. 

Tevepaugh was told he might have to wait two years to receive a new kidney, so they started looking for live donors He needed someone who was O postive and willing to give a kidney.

According to Tevepaugh, there were 30 poeple in his life willing to get tested and help, however the first one to fill out the paper work was his fiance's best friend.

Allyson Smith and Brittany Gregory have been close since their freshman year at the University of South Carolina.

Smith is an avid Gamcock fan, and more importantly, a match.

"I'm looking forward to giving this gift," said Smith.

The gift will get Andy Tevepaugh off dialysis.

"This gives me a chance to live a more normal and healthier life, because someone is being so selfless to give a vital organ like a kidney," said Tevepaugh.

Smith sees the love between Gregory and Tevepaugh and is doing what she can to help her friends.

"It's just a great example of a relationship, and you're like, why them. But I believe God gives the biggest burdens to the ones who can handle them," said Smith.

These burdens the three seem to handle best with a little humor.

"You know, I told Andy that there's a huge risk. You know, I have a garnet and black kidney, and there's a chance he could wake up a Carolina fan," adds Smith.

A rivalry that will forever continue between fans who will forever be friends despite their colors.
