Church raises money for bulletproof vests for local college police

COLUMBIA (WACH) -- Benedict College Campus Police received three new bulletproof vests Monday.

Riverland Hills Baptist Church, along with the non-profit group In-Vest USA, presented the campus police with the vests after raising $2,100 under the "Bless the Vest" program.

Under the program, church congregations can adopt one or more law enforcement officers and raise money to equip them with vests.

Each vest costs appromiately $700.

In-Vest USA has provided thousands of vests for law enforcement officers and other first responders nationwide.
