RICHLAND COUNTY, SC (WACH) - A store clerk fought back against a person taking money from the store register two weeks ago. Authorities are hoping the community can help them identify the suspect.
Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott says one suspect is wanted for robbery and simple assault in connection with a robbery that occurred on Saturday, July 28 at a Family Dollar store on Decker Boulevard.
The suspect entered the business and was paying for an item. As the clerk was placing the suspects money into the register, the suspect reached over the counter into the register drawer, according to Lott.
The situation was captured on surveillance video.
The store clerk is seen slapping and swinging her hands at the suspect, who continues to reach into the register.
Lott says the suspect stole money and assaulted the clerk during the incident.
The suspect is described by Lott as a male who is approximately 6-feet-tall with a thin build.
