Greer officers shoot, wound armed man

GREER, S.C. (AP) -- The State Law Enforcement Division is investigating the shooting and wounding of an armed man in Greer by two city police officers.

Greer police Lt. Jim Holcombe says two officers were called to a home Monday night after getting a report that someone was firing a gun.

A police report says woman had gone to the home to get her belongings when she was confronted by her husband, who had a gun. .

Holcombe says the officers were confronted by the man with a weapon and the officers fired.

The man was taken to Spartanburg Regional Hospital where he was listed in serious condition. He has not been charged.

Holcombe says the officers are on administrative leave while SLED investigates the shooting.
