COLUMBIA (WACH) -- March is Red Cross Month. Gov. Haley met with Members of the Red Cross Monday to recognize the organization's contributions to the community.

Haley read a proclamation commending the red cross on its volunteerism and community service.

"You never hear about it until you need it, but it really goes to the heart of neighbors helping neighbors," said Haley of the Red Cross. "It's when someone's house burns down. It's when we have a hurricane, it's when there's some sort of event that we all come together on."

In her proclamation, Haley asked all South Carolinians to recognize the contributions of the Red Cross to the "strength, safety and health of our state" this month.
