COLUMBIA (WACH) - They say laughter is the best medicine.

That seemed to be the case for kids at Palmetto Health Children's Hospital Wednesday.

The circus is in town and clowns from Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey stopped by to cheer up the kids.

In addition to hearing jokes and learning some circus tricks, the kids participated in activities relating to the dragon theme characteristics of the circus this weekend.

The clowns also gave the kids beads of courage bracelets.

"The beads are a constant reminder, much like a merit badge; this is a reminder that their show must always go on," said one of the clowns, Oscar Liendo, Jr.

The circus is performing at the Colonial Life Arena tomorrow through Sunday.
