CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) -- The Clemson University community is getting an education on food systems.
Farmer, professor and author Philip Ackerman-Leist is speaking at the school Wednesday. His lecture is entitled "Rebuilding the Foodshed: Remapping Our Expectations for the Food We Share."
Organizers say Ackerman-Leist is talking about building community-based food systems and how local food systems can transform how we eat, shop, grow and plan.
Ackerman-Leist is a professor at Green Mountain College in Vermont, where he established the college's farm and sustainable agriculture curriculum. He is also director of the Green Mountain College Farm & Food Project.
