COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- Emergency officials know a tornado warning is about to be issued across South Carolina.

That's because Tuesday morning's warning is part of the South Carolina Emergency Management Division's annual statewide tornado drill.

The drill will start at 9 a.m. with the National Weather Service sending out a real tornado warning. Emergency officials say anyone with a weather radio should make sure it is working by checking to see if the alarm goes off.

Schools and businesses are encouraged to practice their tornado safety drills as well.

If there is any chance of severe weather Tuesday, officials say the drill will be moved to Thursday morning.
