COLUMBIA (WACH) -- An apartment fire has left 16 people without a home.

The Columbia Fire Department responded to the fire around 4:30 Saturday morning at the Hampton Park Apartments Building F. Fire Department Spokesman Brick Lewis said the area had heavy fire and visible smoke.

Lewis said there were no injuries; but damages are estimated at $100,000.

16 people are displaced and are receiving assistance from the Red Cross. The Red Cross said 12 adults and four children received temporary housing, food, clothing, and other needs.

The fire is still under investigation.

This is the second fire at the Hampton Park Apartments in the last nine months. A fire in June 2012 displaced 12 people from another unit. Officials say that fire started from unattended cooking. Lewis said construction is still going on from the previous fire.
