RICHLAND COUNTY (WACH) - Firefighters responding to a fire in a wooded area near Screaming Eagle Road found a body, according to Columbia Fire Department spokesman Brick Lewis.

Lewis said the fire took four hours to get under control and the body was found while the firefighters were putting it out.

Deputy Curtis Wilson with the Richland County Sheriff's Department says it is a woman's body, and the cause of death is not yet known.

Authorities say the investigation is ongoing and it is still to early to determine if the incident is or is not arson.

WACH Fox has a crew on the scene and will have more information as it becomes available.
