Columbia, S.C. (WACH) -- Filing your taxes can be a frustrating task but it's a task that cannot be avoided.
Yvette Jones has been preparing people's taxes for more than 25 years.
The owner of Jones financial recommends hiring a tax professional to prepare your tax returns.
"Every person's situation is a little different," said Jones. "We've had situations where we have come up with the same number that someone has at home and we've also had where we've saved someone $8,000."
Hiring a tax accountant can offer limitless benefits which is key especially with some of the recent changes to tax code following the fiscal cliff crisis.
"You always get the latest tax updates and also when you have a professional preparing your taxes or a CPA you have accumulative knowledge," said Jones.
If you chose not to file your tax returns it could lead to penalties like thousands of dollars in fines and in some cases jail time.
