GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) -- A 44-year-old man has died and his 5-year-old daughter has been hurt after they fell at a Greenville County waterfall.

The coroner's office said Mark Jones of Taylors slipped over the edge of Wildcat Branch Falls in the northern part of the county around 3:30 p.m. Sunday, falling about 100 feet. He died a few hours later at the hospital.

Deputy Coroner Kent Dill says Jones was hiking with his 5-year-old daughter, who also fell from the falls. Investigators think she may have been trying to help her dad. She is at the hospital. Her condition was not known.

Dill says Jones texted his wife minutes before he fell telling her the area was beautiful and he was having a great time.
