COLUMBIA (WACH)--Two Columbia Correctional Facilities are closed this weekend due to a flu outbreak.

Visitors tell WACH that they are not allowed to come inside the Goodman and Kirkland prisons to see inmates. Witnesses say they saw nurses taking people out on stretchers.

South Carolina Department of Corrections Spokesman Clark Newsom said the two facilities are closed to visitors this weekend. Newsom said there are 18 cases at Kirkland and 3 at Goodman. All of the flu cases are mild.

The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control has quarantined the two buildings to protect the public.
