KERSHAW COUNTY, SC (WACH) - A Camden man faces several charges after he fled from deputies in Kershaw County.

Kershaw County deputies arrested Lydell Willliams, 32, of Camden on Sunday and charged him with DUI, Driving Under Suspension, Failure to Stop for a Blue Light, Resisting Arrest and Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana following a foot and vehicle pursuit.

At approximately 1:30 a.m. Sunday, a Kershaw County traffic officer observed Williams just outside the city limits of Camden, operating his motor vehicle in a manner consistent with drunk driving. The deputy attempted to stop Williams who fled in his vehicle. The deputy pursued Williams onto Tickle Hill Rd. where Williams eventually stopped at an abandoned building and fled on foot.

The deputy and his K-9 partner gave chase and were able to catch Williams who fought with the deputy, but was ultimately taken into custody with the assistance of the K-9 and another traffic officer. During the course of the fight, the deputy observed Williams throw a bag of marijuana away, but the drugs were found.

Williams was transported to Kershaw Health hospital where he was treated for dog bites. He was then taken to the Kershaw County Detention Center and is being charged with DUI, DUS, Resisting Arrest, Failure to Stop for Blue Light and Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana.
