LAURENS, S.C. (AP) -- U.S. Rep. Jeff Duncan is touring his South Carolina district to talk about the debate over gun laws.

Duncan's office says he is doing a "Second Amendment Listening Tour" on Friday. Duncan is stopping at firearms and outdoors shops in Greenville, Walhalla, Seneca, Anderson and Greenwood.

Duncan has voiced opposition to President Barack Obama's proposed package that includes banning assault weapons, requiring background checks on all firearms purchases and limiting ammunition magazines to 10 rounds.

The Republican congressman has also written to the chief executive of a firearms manufacturer encouraging him to relocate to South Carolina from New York after that state adopted tough new gun restrictions.
