A 34 year old Columbia man is dead after trying to cross Bluff Road near midnight Thursday.

COLUMBIA (WACH) - A 34-year-old Columbia man is dead after trying to cross Bluff Road around midnight Thursday.
Richland County Coroner Gary Watts said Jerry F. Johnson of Riley Court was walking in the road when he was hit by a Dodge Stratus traveling east on Bluff Road. The South Carolina Highway Patrol said Johnson was wearing dark clothes. He died at the scene.
Watts said the Highway Patrol is still investigating.
