Columbia, SC (WACH) – Old man winter has returned to South Carolina in the form of temperatures.  And now with a disturbance heading this way we could see some wintry precipitation to go along with those temperatures.

The return of a southerly wind tonight will increase moisture in the atmosphere over the state.

With a strong disturbance currently over the pacific northwest making it’s way toward the east coast, and cold temperatures in place, we will see the ingredients coming together to support winter weather.

The breakdown as to who will see what looks like this:

Newberry, Fairfield, & Kershaw counties will have chances to see a wintry mix beginning Friday morning.

Columbia and areas south of the I-20 corridor will see mostly rain, but bridges and overpasses will be of concern for slick spots.
