WILLIAMSTON, S.C. (AP) -- A worker has died after falling into a metal stamping machine at a plant in Anderson County, according to investigators.

The man was working on a machine around 9 a.m. Tuesday at Stanco Metal Products when he lost his footing and fell into the machine, according to investigators.

Anderson County Coroner Greg Shore says there were safety features on the machine, but he will leave it up to workplace investigators to determine if those features were working.

Shore says 62-year-old Kendall Collier died from head injuries.

Federal records show a 2007 incident at the Williamston plant killed another worker who fell from a scissor lift after being hit by a crane while working on electrical lines. The company was fined $550.

Stanco Metal Products is based in Grand Haven, Mich.
