COLUMBIA (WACH) -- Columbia Chief of Police Randy Scott was sworn in Tuesday for a second time.
Scott retired January 1 and then reapplied for the position due to changes of the state police retirement system that limits earnings for all retirees.
Chief Scott said looking ahead to this year, youth intervention and prevention are high on his list of priorities.
Scott says he feels the first two years of his career with the Columbia Police Department have been very aggressive on crime and street drugs, which will continue. He said he feels lucky to be sworn in again after being out of the position for 15 days, which in that time he was able to reflect on his career.
"I did not want to leave this job without solving the Amir case. I did not want to leave this job without solving the Brook Pines murder. those go home with me every day, and just sitting at home thinking - 'What else can we being doing to help find Amir?' - was something that just ate at my soul," said Scott.
