CAMDEN, SC (WACH) - Camden police are searching for a man who attempted to rob a bank Wednesday afternoon.

Chief Joseph M. Floyd says around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, a white man appearing to be between 25 and 35 years of age attempted to rob the Bank of America in Camden.

The suspect, who was around 5-feet-11-inches tall and approximately 160 pounds, had facial hair and was wearing a blue pull-over, blue jeans and a hat at the time of the incident, according to Floyd.

The police report states the suspect entered the bank and spoke to a female employee three times between 3 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Wenesday. The employee said the first time he asked for information about setting up a business account. The second time, the employee said she told him she was with a customer and he said he would come back in fifteen minutes. Around 4:30 p.m. the employee told police she took the suspect into a priivate office and asked him about setting up an account. The suspect said he wasn't interested and handed her a note stating he had a bomb with a detonator strapped to and he wanted $9,500.

Accoring to the report, the suspect  left the bank without any money after bank employees asked him if he had a debit card.
