COLUMBIA (WACH)- A Columbia Police officer is back on duty after being involved in a Wednesday evening wreck in Columbia's Shandon Community. 

Lance Corporal Brent Kelly with the South Carolina Highway Patrol, said that about 6:10 Wednesday evening, a 2005 Ford SUV, driven by a 62-year-old Columbia man was stopped at the intersection of Ott Rd. and Devine St.  The Patrol car, driven by Officer Jeffrey Brink,  was traveling South on Millwood Avenue.  A 2003 Volkswagen driven by a 47-year-old Columbia man was turning left on to Ott Road, when he was struck by the patrol car.

No one was injured in the wreck and all of the drivers were wearing their seatbelts.  The driver of the Volkswagen 47-year-old, Robert Laman of Columbia, was charged with failure to yield right of way.
