RICHLAND COUNTY, SC (WACH) - Richland County deputies have arrested a teen they say has been involved in at least ten car thefts and break-ins.

Sheriff Leon Lott announced Wednesday the arrest of a 14-year-old boy who is charged with two counts of grand larceny, two counts of theft from a motor vehicle and failure to stop for blue lights.

The arrest comes after investigators were called to Longcreek Drive in reference to auto-tampering on Wednesday around 3 a.m., according to Lott. Investigators saw two suspects break into a vehicle and leave the scene in a black Honda Accord.

Deputies pursued the car, which crashed at T.S. Martin Street and English Avenue. The 14-year-old was arrested after a foot chase, but the second suspect got away.

Lott says it is imperative that deputies locate the second suspect as the department continues to reduce these types of crime from occurring.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the second suspect can contact CrimeStoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
