GAFFNEY, S.C. (AP) -- A company that makes plastic closures for beverages, food and motor oil and agriculture is expanding its plant in Cherokee County.

State officials said Thursday that Bericap North America will spend $29 million on the expansion that will create 50 jobs in the next five years.

The expansion will double the size of the plant. Construction is expected to begin later this year and should be complete early next year.

Company officials say the expansion will meet growing demand for their products in the Southeast.

Hiring will begin late this summer.
