Emergency crews respond to Columbia apartment fire

COLUMBIA (WACH) - Emergency crews responded to a two alarm fire at an apartment complex in Columbia Friday afternoon.

Brick Lewis with the Columbia Fire Department says fire units are worked a fire at the Hunter's Way apartment complex off of Percival Road.

Fire Chief Aubrey Jenkins says six families have been displaced from the blaze and damages are estimated at $300,000. The Red Cross has been notified.

According to Jenkins, the cause of the fire has not been determined.

No injuries have been reported.

One of the victims told WACH Fox she lost everything.

It was announced Monday afternoon that the cause of the fire was due to unattended cooking after the Richland County Fire Marshal's Office completed the investigation.
