COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- Investigators say a man called Richland County deputies after stabbing his girlfriend to death, putting her body in a plastic container and bringing her to the parking lot of a McDonald's restaurant in Columbia.

Authorities said 25-year-old Faafiu Toese called police around 3 a.m. Wednesday and then told officers to look in the back seat of his 2000 Mitsubishi Montero, where his girlfriend's body was in the plastic container.

Deputies say the stabbing took place during an argument at the nearby apartment the couple shared.

Authorities say Toese is charged with murder. He is being held at the Richland County jail and it wasn't clear if he had an attorney.
