COLUMBIA (WACH)- The City of Columbia didn't look far to find its new city manager designee.

The City Council voted to hire Assistant city manager Teresa Wilson to take over for outgoing city manager Steve Gantt, when Ganntt retires in 2013.

In a vote of 5-2, city council voted to extend an offer to Wilson.  Wilson still has to officially accept the offer. Council members Leona Plaugh and Moe Baddourah voted against extending the offer to Wilson.

Pending negotiations and acceptance by Ms. Wilson, City Council is scheduled to vote on the execution of a contract at the first meeting in 2013. That meeting is scheduled for January 8, 2013 at 6:00 p.m.
